An accurate eyeglass prescription is necessary for comfortable and clear vision in daily life. At Sault Vision Clinic P.C., whether you need a new prescription or have glasses fitted for the first time, we offer a clinically precise approach to your eyeglass prescription. Each prescription is based on a complete understanding of your vision. Our eye tests involve refractive testing and a full ocular health check to facilitate proper diagnosis and ongoing eye health.

Eyeglass Prescription Services

Sault Vision Clinic P.C.’s prescription process is based on clinical accuracy, advanced diagnostics, and a personalized approach to care.

Key components of the service include:

  1. Comprehensive Eye Health Evaluation: Each appointment begins with a comprehensive assessment of the anatomy of the eye, intraocular pressure, and posterior eye health. This step is helpful for screening for potential eye conditions affecting vision (cataracts, dry eye, or early signs of eye disease).
  2. Visual Acuity Testing: We measure how clearly you see at various distances using standard eye charts. We quantify your current visual acuity by having you read letters at near and far ranges. This test reveals any blurriness or vision loss, guiding the next steps in your exam.
  3. Refraction Assessment: Our optometrists conduct multiple lens comparisons with phoropters and autorefractors. The patient provides input on lens clearness, and the correct prescription values for myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism can be accurately assessed.
  4. Lens and Frame Consultation: After the exam, our opticians recommend the right lenses and frames. Suggestions for single vision, bifocal, progressive lenses, and any personalization options, including mirrors, tints, and treatments, depend on each person’s lifestyle and visual needs.

By detailing the procedure in these steps, patients can comprehend what to expect. And at every step, we pause to answer questions and ensure you feel comfortable.

Technology & Diagnostic Tools

Sault Vision Clinic P.C. utilizes advanced technology to improve accuracy and patient outcomes.

Key equipment includes:

  1. Essilor Visioffice with Eyecode: This advanced system captures up to 20 measurements of your eyes and face geometry. It then recommends the ideal lens design for your prescription and lifestyle. It is particularly effective for fitting multifocal lenses by accounting for eye movement and facial geometry.
  2. Carl Zeiss Meditec Cirrus HD-OCT: The Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scan produces highly detailed cross-sectional images of the inside of the eye. We may use this technology in our exams to identify early changes (e.g., early glaucoma or macular degeneration) that may not be seen with routine examination techniques. That way, all eyeglass prescriptions are based on your eye health.
  3. Digital Refraction Equipment: These digital instruments enable us to measure your refractive error efficiently and precisely. Current phoropters and autorefractors standardize refraction; there is less variation from one visit to the next, and the data can be comparable.

These diagnostic systems contribute to prescription accuracy while allowing our clinicians to screen for conditions that might affect long-term vision health.
